Navigating the Latest Waste Management Regulations

As of July 2023, new waste management regulations (Waste Management (Collection Permit) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2023), have come into effect.

According to these regulations all commercial premises are required to establish separate food waste collection. This not only ensures conformity with the law but also supports our commitment to sustainable practices. Through the implementation of food waste collection, we not only decrease our reliance on non-renewable sources but also make significant advancements in reducing our carbon footprint.

In addition to the favourable environmental outcomes of segregating food waste, it will also alleviate your waste disposal expenses, which have been influenced by the government's recently enforced 'Recovery Levy' initiated on September 1st, 2023. This levy, essentially an extra tax on all general waste nationwide, is expected to increase annually. We believe a focus on organic segregation will further increase recycling and reduce General Waste. By ensuring that food waste is separated from your general waste bin, you will also reduce your disposal costs.

We encourage you to take a moment to evaluate if your business could benefit from KeyGreen's organic bin service. By doing so, you not only shield yourself from potential fines but also actively support Ireland's efforts to reach its EU recycling targets.
