Waste bags will no longer be allowed on streets in Dublin from 6 July 2026. Instead, all household waste must be placed in bins.

With KeyGreen, switching is simple.

Please note: Dublin 7 customers can continue using their existing bag collection service until their new bin service begins on 6th July 2026. Charges relating to the bin plan will commence from this date.

Is there a weight limit on general waste bins?

Yes, bins have weight limits depending on your plan (typically 40kg to 70kg). Additional weight is charged per kg.

Will my bin collection day change?

No, your existing collection day is not expected to change.

How often are bins collected?

All waste streams are collections bi-weekly.

What time should I put my bin out?

Bins should be presented in line with Dublin City Council waste byelaws. KeyGreen will confirm your exact collection times when you sign up.

What happens if I continue using bags after 6 July 2026

Bagged waste will no longer be collected and may be left behind.

Will there be fines for incorrect waste disposal?
